PJ's Pet Store Going Out Of Business - Yorkdale

Hey guys, there was a post a while back in regards to this store. Well, I just read on another forum that the Yorkdale location is going out of business.

Just thought some of you might like to know. :)

That's a good question, though I figure they'd just ship it all to their other store (erm, do they still have another store in Toronto?)

They have several, though the Yorkdale location is their biggest and arguably their evilest.

This is such beautiful news, at any rate.

Does anyone else remember when they used to have tree monkies for sale there?

I noticed recently that the large PetSmart (I think that's what it was) that was on Yonge St North of Lawrence is now a PJ's. I just about cried to think that that company could still operate a store that size.

I think the small one at Eglinton Centre is still there, too.

I remember the one at the Eg. center - lordy, it was *awful*, and the cages were always horrible.

I've always felt sorry for the poor cats and dogs they sell there.

My boyfriend and I go there to pretend shop for puppies so that I can play with them, but overall this is amazing news! The last one we were "going to buy" was a Bernese Mountain Dog, and when they took him out of the glass case and gave him to me, he took nearly two minutes to even move on his own - he just stood still, like he was drugged, before that :(

You should go here instead (I do!) http://www.toronto.ca/animal_services/centres.htm Always a lot of very sweet animals and they love the attention. You get to let them out of their cages and hold them and play with them. The one in my neighbourhood is the Exhibition Place location (Prince's Blvd.) and all the staff there are super nice. They're open every day.

I didn't know I could do that! There's one quite close, too.... thanks for the suggestion!

i saw a large tomcat have sex with a small fluffy white kitten in one of those cages in the middle of the store.

the poor kittens eyes looked like they were going to burst out of it's head.

i don't think i've ever laughed so hard in my life.

the square one operation seems to still be going strong. Somehow i think PJ's is going to be hard to kill off completely :(

Praise be. The last time I walked by there, they had a special on...buy a dog, get free gas from Petro Canada. Say what?

Well let's just say alot of people's got hate on Pj's...But although if you look at the store as a whole and the ones who have their names/faces on the stores it looks evil, ugly, sad, im so glad they are gone. Then there are those who actually are the everyday employees. They do work hard, but they cannot help what goes in and out of the stores, they are there to clean or to unfortunately depending on who they are sell to the wrong people. This does not make the entire store bad. Just what everyone seems to see. Every buisness that goes retail is pretty much corrupt for profit. Even the Toronto Zoo has got major issues and I hate on them. But what can you do? Yorkdale Pj's is probaby one of the best locations of PJ's. They also do have the better trained staff compared to smaller PJ's. It's not necessarily the store but who operates them. IF you guys visited PetsMart or Petco, you might barf your faces off because their animals are never socialized and not as clean as they can be.

Very long, I know :P

I didn't know it was going out of business until I went to go there today. When ever I'd be at Yorkdale I'd make sure I go there and hang around the ferrets. If people wanted to buy them I'd tell them exactly how much they would end up costing them and the work that you need to put into them and the time to play with them and no matter what the person that worked there says, they are NOT caged animals....

I'd do so quietly of course so I wouldn't get banned...

Anyways I'm glad its gone, but I'm going to miss seeing the Kits. Its a bit depressing that you can usually only see baby ferrets at pet stores that the people selling them usually don't no a thing about them, and the conditions that they come to the store in *shudders*

Thank GOD!!!!!! I was going to buy a ferret from them in their bramela/brampton location. My sister and brother thought u needed a cage too. It made me sad one of the dogs face was covered in feces and no one cleaned it instead they were entertaining people with the store's manager's labradoodle. SO sad :(
