I have two futon mattresses* that I'd like to put out for garbage collection. I have 'single family' collection, so we use the new garbage and recycling bins. The 'dos and don'ts list' on the Toronto solid waste management website indicates that I should just put them outside with my regular garbage, but I'm not sure that list is up to date, and I really, really don't want to get stuck with two soggy futon mattresses if the collectors don't pick them up.
My collection date is Tuesday, so I'll be calling the city's waste management customer service line on Monday, but I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on whether or not I can put them out with the bins or not, in case I need to arrange a pickup. I have a new mattress coming Monday, and a tiny hovel of an apartment, so I don't have anywhere to store the mattresses if the city doesn't pick them up.
*I got them both used, and I've used them for a few years, so I think they're pretty worn out. But if anyone wants them, let me know!
